Applications are invited for these two posts based in the Medical Education Centre at Queens Medical Centre, University of Nottingham.

As Vice Dean for Clinical Affairs, you will be expected to make a significant leadership impact by taking day to day responsibility for all University of Nottingham medical students located within either the Derby or Nottingham geographical Hubs (each of around 600 students at any time). Each Hub covers three Local Education Providers (LEPs) with the Derby Hub’s hospitals based in Derby and Chesterfield and the Nottingham Hub’s hospitals based in Mansfield and Nottingham.

One of the Vice Deans for Clinical Affairs (i.e., the Vice Dean for the Nottingham Hub or for the Derby Hub) will take the lead responsibility for the quality assurance of the Nottingham BMBS course and maintain our governance systems. The other will take the lead responsibility for the design, content, and delivery of the clinical curriculum of the BMBS medicine course, co-chairing the Undergraduate Curriculum Committee with the Director of the BMedSci Course (Dr Billy Dunn) and line managing Leads for Clinical Phases and Academic Attachments, and Medical Education Fellows who lead central teaching sessions and curate online learning on our clinical curriculum.

You will participate in the Centre’s organisation, management and strategic planning and contribute, overall, to management within the School of Medicine and to the University’s strategic planning processes.

Between two and five NHS clinical sessions will be spent as Honorary Consultant or General Practitioner in either Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust or Nottinghamshire Healthcare Foundation NHS Trust, the United Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust or a General Practice in Nottinghamshire or Derbyshire.

Post to be offered as either Clinical Associate Professor or Clinical Professor (depending on skills and experience).

This post is available on a permanent basis. Hours of work are full time (40 hours).
