The University of Plymouth, Peninsula Dental School Online Summer School will welcome 100 students in Years 11 and 12. The three-day programme will cover the three main elements of the student life cycle. It will focus on supporting the student’s journey into dental education with admissions advice, life as a dental student including information and activities that explain the challenges and opportunities encountered as a dental student, and life beyond dental school.
This will be an immersive experience covering the range of careers within the oral health profession. The programme will include talks from academics and dental students from Queen Mary University London and Kings College London.
The content of the online summer school will include:
If a student is on the Peninsula Pathways Programme attendance on the online summer school will count towards their Significant Engagement. The Significant Engagement is one of the widening access markers that can be used by students from socially and/or educationally disadvantaged backgrounds.
Significant engagement includes completion of the 3 day online summer school Programme, being a member of the e-Mentoring scheme and having attended a minimum of three of the Peninsula Pathways workshops by the end of Year 12.
The University of Plymouth is committed to Widening Access and ensuring that all students with the potential to succeed, regardless of their background, are able to apply with us. The additional information gained through contextual data enables our Admissions Advisory Panel to recognise a student’s achievements and identify their potential to succeed in the context of their background and experience.
