Queen Mary University of London and Kings College London Dentistry Summer School

The summer school will comprise of three in-person events (two at Queen Mary and one at King’s) with the launch and follow-up sessions taking place online. We anticipate the summer school to take place the week of 27th July.

• Online Launch (July) 
• Online follow-up session (September) 
• Invitation to mock interviews in the Autumn 

About this programme

Interacting with staff and students from Queen Mary University of London and Kings College London participants will recognise the realities of being a dentist, life as a dental student, relationship with allied professions and the skills needed to succeed. 

The summer school activities will be focused on the following key areas:  

1. Gaining an insight into life as a dentist and a dental student studying at Queen Mary and King’s  
2. Students will take part in a range of interactive sessions that include meeting a variety of dental professionals, working with dentistry student ambassadors and ‘hands on’ practical sessions.   
3. Knowledge of the dental application process 
4. Activities will support students to make a strong UCAS application 
5. Mock interviews in the autumn 
6. Alternatives to studying dentistry 
7. Students will be given the opportunity to explore alternative routes into the dental profession, utilising their 5th choice.      

The summer school will comprise of in-person events and online sessions: 

• Launch Webinar (Online) 
• Three-day Summer School (in-person at Queen Mary University of London Whitechapel Campus and King’s College London, Guys Campus  
• Dentistry Admissions Q&A/follow-up session (online in September) 
• Mock Interviews (online in November)

This programme is open to students in Year 12 in England from underrepresented backgrounds, particularly those from areas with limited outreach to medical schools.
