After a varied career in publishing and medical devices, Dr Katie Petty-Saphon became Chief Executive of the Medical Schools Council in 2003. Katie studied Natural Sciences at the University of Cambridge and has a PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Birmingham. She was awarded an MBE in 2011 for her work on the Tooke Report Aspiring to Excellence.
She is a Fellow of the Academy of Medical Educators and a Trustee of the UCAT Consortium and of the Westheimer Trust which provides scholarships to asylum seekers entering higher education.
