What we do

As the authoritative voice of UK medical schools, we bring together leaders from across the country to collaborate and offer expert insight on critical issues in medical education and research.

Our priorities
  • Amplifying the voice of medical schools: through collaboration, we shape national strategies and initiatives while ensuring the autonomy of individual institutions remains intact.
  • Advancing medical education and assessment: we work to ensure the UK’s world-leading medical education keeps pace with the evolving needs of the healthcare landscape.
  • Fostering the potential of future doctors: we aim to make the medical profession more accessible, especially for individuals from underrepresented backgrounds.
  • Championing clinical academic careers: by working with stakeholders, we advocate for and support the vital clinical academic workforce responsible for cutting-edge research and training the next generation of doctors.
  • Promoting the value of medical school research: we emphasise the crucial role medical school research plays in advancing healthcare and medical knowledge.
  • Strengthening the relationship between universities and the NHS: we facilitate smoother transitions between undergraduate and postgraduate training, ensuring stronger partnerships between medical schools and healthcare providers.
