Clinical Tutorial Programme Lead

University of Leicester

About the role
This is a Senior GP Educator role within the Medical School.  The successful appointee will join an established team of GP and Medical School educators.

The post holder’s primary responsibility will be the leadership, coordination and delivery of a Clinical Tutorial Programme as part of our partnership with Chongqing Medical University (CQMU). This Joint Education Programme (JEP) involves a BSc in Clinical Sciences delivered between the University of Leicester and CQMU, and an undergraduate medical degree delivered by CQMU. In the final year of their Clinical Sciences degree, our students have the option to travel from Chongqing to Leicester to study towards this final year onsite in UoL. As they are simultaneously CQMU clinical students, we are also creating and offering an optional bespoke Clinical Tutorial Programme which has three main aims:

  1. Maintain and improve students’ diagnostic reasoning and clinical skills during their year in the UK
  2. Prepare students towards two more specific goals:
    1. The requirements of their national qualification exam (guided by CQMU colleagues)
    2. The requirements of the PLAB 2 (OSCE) exam*

*This programme will also ultimately be offered to international medical graduates, in particular to support asylum seeking and refugee doctors in their transition towards working in the UK

In addition to the Clinical Tutorial Programme, the successful appointee will also contribute to leadership and delivery in areas of primary care and clinical teaching within the Leicester Medical School curriculum.
