University of Leicester

Following the launch of the new University Hospitals of Northamptonshire NHS Group (https://le.ac.uk/news/2021/july/northamptonshire-hospitals),  we are seeking a high calibre clinician scientist (Diabetes), possessing full GMC registration and a licence to practice to undertake academic and clinical delivery (5 PAs academic and 5 PAs clinical).

You will be part of a multi-disciplinary team of scientists and clinicians who have been brought together within the Leicester Diabetes Research Centre to develop a programme of high quality research directed at developing new personalised approaches to therapy. The group has a national and international reputation in translational research. 

Appointees will collaborate with, and supervise others, in producing innovative research with a major influence on the discipline and making a significant contribution to the College's research and teaching strategies.   Appointees will be contributors to the University’s REF return, or equivalent; be a significant generator of research income and supervise a team of clinical and non-clinical postgraduate and undergraduate researchers.

In addition, appointees will be required to deliver consultant clinical duties to support the clinical service at University Hospitals of Northamptonshire NHS Group (Kettering) and will play a prominent role in shaping and developing the future of these services.  A new Academic Strategy is in place supporting our academic ambitions for the future and our partnership with University of Leicester.

This post is offered at Professor or Associate Professorial level, with the level of appointment being determined by the extent and degree of experience of the appointed candidate.
 

Associate Professor

  • The appointee will have a substantial reputation in their field with an established national research reputation and a clear record of impact shown by substantial and sustained research outcomes which are evidenced by attainment of peer-reviewed externally funded grants and significant publications in peer reviewed journals.

Professor

  • The appointee will have a high international standing with a substantial and sustained reputation based on an extensive track record of innovative research and be able to evidence a major influence and impact on the discipline with substantial and sustained research outcomes which are evidenced by attainment of peer-reviewed externally funded grants and significant publications in peer reviewed journals.
