Welcome to the new Medical Schools Council website. It has been designed in order to make clear all the work that we do in UK medical education, and to provide better information for both prospective and current medical students.

The information is organised into three sections.

• The About us section describes the history of the Medical Schools Council and its role as a representative body. It also lists its member medical schools along with their representatives.
• In Our work, we set out the different groups run by the Medical Schools Council and the areas of education and research they work in. This section also lays out the projects being carried out by these groups and the resources that have been produced through these projects.
• The Studying medicine section contains information on the different stages of becoming a doctor and practising medicine. There's lots to help prospective medical students through the process of applying, with guidance straight from the medical schools themselves, as well as information on routes to take after graduation, including specialties and academic medicine.
