Newcastle University Medical Sciences Summer School (MSC Summer School)

About this summer school

Summer School students will have the opportunity to experience life as a medical student at Newcastle, attending application workshops, taster lectures and clinical sessions, working on a group project, as well hearing from academics and clinicians to find out about careers in medicine.

Students on the Summer School will have the opportunity to talk to current medicine students to find out about the application process and life as a student at Newcastle.

You will take part in social activities and stay in our halls of residence, right on campus, to get a real taste of what being a student is really like!

Additional information 

• Costs including travel, accommodation, food and activities are covered which means it is free of charge for students to attend (please note that travel expenses may be capped, which would be discussed with individuals where relevant).

• We use certain contextual data from the UCAS application to consider challenges that student’s may have faced in their education and the potential effect this may have had on their qualifications. Summer School students may be eligible to receive a lower contextual offer.

How to apply 

MSC Summer School programmes are open to students in Year 12 in England from underrepresented backgrounds, particularly those from areas with limited outreach to medical schools.
