Teaching method
What is a traditional pre-clinical and clinical course?
Students begin their training with three years of ‘pre-clinical’ work, involving study of the basic medical sciences. This is followed by the ‘clinical’ course, during which you will work in hospital wards under the supervision of consultants.
Applicants will be considered based on predicted grades.
Where an error in predicted grades comes to light after this date, if it results in the applicant’s Exeter score meeting the cut-off for an invite to interview, they will be placed on a reserve list and invited to interview if places become available. Please note that this policy applies to errors in predicted grades only – all other reasons for a change in predicted grades will not be considered.
Resit policy
Applicants resitting qualifications will be considered equally.
Non-academic requirements
Work experience
Work experience is not required as part of the selection criteria.
Personal statement

Admission test
UCAT test for direct school leavers, GAMSAT for non-direct school leavers.
Admissions tests are used as part of the selection criteria for interview.
If it is the case that following interviews there are a high number of applicants within the eligible pool for offers, the UCAT/GAMSAT Score may be used again to decide which candidates will receive an offer.
Interview method
Online multiple-mini interviews.
Widening participation
Fair access to Higher Education is hugely important to us at the University of Exeter. It enables social mobility and helps to improve opportunities and life-chances for individuals and their communities.
Contextual offers

You are eligible for a contextual offer at a lower grade than our typical entry requirements if you meet one of the widening participation criteria, but please note the application process is competitive, so receiving an offer is not guaranteed.
