How we use your data

Demographic data helps us ensure that assessments are fair and inclusive for all students. By understanding the experiences of candidates from a wide range of backgrounds, we can improve how assessments are developed and delivered.
Before sitting the AKT, candidates will be asked to complete an Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) monitoring form. While completing this form is mandatory, sharing personal information is not. You can choose the ‘prefer not to say’ option if you decide not to provide certain details.

Why it’s important

We encourage students to complete the form, as the data collected will help ensure that medical education and assessments are fair for all, including those with protected characteristics. These data will be kept anonymous and only ever reported as aggregate reports.

This research has been approved by the Faculty of Health Science Research Ethics Committee at the University of Bristol (approval code 9458). If you do not wish your data to be included in the research, please contact the Assessment Lead at your medical school.
