The Inquiry into Modernising Medical Schools was led by Professor Sir John Tooke, Chair of the Medical Schools Council. The interim report was published in November 2007, and following an extensive consultation evoking almost 40,000 responses, the final report of the Inquiry was published on 8 January 2008. Recommendations include the proposal for a new co-ordinating body, NHS: Medical Education England.
