Professor Tony Weetman announced as new Chair of the Medical Schools Council
The Medical Schools Council is pleased to announce that Professor Tony Weetman, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Medicine, University of Sheffield, has been elected as the new Chair of the Medical Schools Council. Professor Weetman, who succeeds Professor Sir John Tooke, Dean, Peninsula Medical School, took up the post on 1 August 2009. Previously, Tony Weetman was Deputy Chair for the Medical Schools Council.
As Chair of the Medical Schools Council, Professor Weetman will ensure that the Council remains the authoritative voice of the UK's Medical Schools. He will spearhead strategies which optimise the generation of national health, wealth and knowledge through biomedical research and the profession of medicine.
