NIHR Clinical Lecturer in General Practice
Primary Care, Population Sciences and Medical Education
This post provides an excellent opportunity for a GP who has completed vocational training for general practice and completed, or almost completed, a research MD or PhD, to spend 48 months full-time (or 72 months part-time), conducting research for at least half of their working week, combined with clinical practice for the remainder. If working less than full time, the post can be extended up to a maximum of 6 years, with the academic component being at least 0.33 whole time equivalent. The appointee would have input into how they would arrange the balance between academic and clinical training
We are looking for a track record in peer-reviewed publications and grant funding, ideally including a previous doctoral training fellowship. You will be expected to continue to publish and to apply for grants, including a postdoctoral fellowship or career scientist award, during the appointment.
The Primary Care Research Centre is a member of the NIHR School for Primary Care Research (SPCR), a national collaboration between the nine departments that performed best in the 2013 REF. The SPCR provides major opportunities for additional networking, training, funding for both small and larger research projects, and extensive multicentre collaborations.
You will be helped to arrange a placement in a local general practice for the clinical component of the post.
Please note, a satisfactory DBS disclosure at Enhanced level is required for this post.
The successful candidate will need to take up the post before 31st March 2022
