Improving the Health of the Public by 2040 Workshop – July 2017
In response to the publication of the Academy of Medical Sciences report, the Medical Schools Council (MSC), in collaboration with Health Education England (HEE), General Medical Council (GMC) and the Academy of Medical Sciences organised a workshop to bring together key organisations and professionals in medicine, dentistry, pharmacy and nursing to share good practice and start the transformation in the education of health professionals. The workshop was chaired by Professor Dame Anne Johnson, FMedSci, Chair of the Working Group of the Academy’s report. Read the report here.
Student & Trainee GP Conference April 2017
Medical students, trainees and medical school staff attended the first student and trainee GP conference, “Generally Speaking”, on 5 April 2017. The conference was a joint initiative between the Medical Schools Council and the Royal College of General Practitioners. Discussions focused on how to better promote and increase recruitment into general practice to medical students and foundation doctors, as well as the many opportunities available within the specialty. Medical Schools Council Student-Led WP Conference March 2017
Medical students were invited to attend the first Medical Schools Council Student-Led WP Conference on Wednesday 22 March 2017. Discussion focused on improving widening participation and outreach. The report can be read here.
Medical Student Conference June 2016
Medical students across the UK were invited to attend the first Medical Schools Council Student Conference on Wednesday 22 June 2016. The day included presentations from the Medical Schools Council, General Medical Council, NHS Employers and students representing Royal College of Psychiatrists. The full report can be found here.
