An exciting opportunity has arisen to work within the John Walton Muscular Dystrophy Research Centre which has a long tradition of excellence in research, diagnosis and management of neuromuscular diseases. The post holder will support the establishment and conduct of a GCP compliant gene therapy study for Duchenne muscular dystrophy, known as UNITE-DMD. In addition, they will support clinical trials and natural history studies in patients with genetic muscle diseases run in the Research Centre. The post will be based at the Institute of Genetic Medicine at Newcastle University led by Prof. Straub. The post will provide an opportunity to gain experience in clinical trials, paediatrics, neurology and clinical research. In addition, the successful applicant will be able to participate in a range of different neuromuscular clinics across the northern region and gain exposure to state of the art diagnostic capabilities for genetic diseases.
