18.05.18

The Medical Schools Council is looking for students to present at the next annual Electives Conference, being held this year on Friday 23 November in London.

This year's theme is: Electives: value for money, values for life

Medical students (and graduates) who will have completed an elective by the November conference are invited to present either a poster or short narrative on their elective, in relation to the conference theme.

To make a submission, you must send a short abstract on your elective to fahmida.yasmin@medschools.ac.uk by end of Sunday 16 September 2018.

Successful students will be notified by Monday 24 September.

For full details, please see the student submission information sheet here.

About the conference

The electives conference is an annual event held by the Medical Schools Council Electives Committee. It brings together medical school elective leads, charitable and national bodies and medical students who have recently returned or will shortly begin a medical elective placement.

The theme for this year’s conference is “Electives - value for money, value for life.” It will explore not only whether an elective is good value for money, but the effect it has on participants skills, career goals and understanding of medicine.

The conference is being held on Friday 23 November 2018 from 10am – 4.00pm at Woburn House, 20 Tavistock Square, London, WC1H 9HD. Lunch and refreshments will be provided.

The conference is also open to medical students who will not be presenting. If you are interested in attending, please contact fahmida.yasmin@medschools.ac.uk

A flyer for the event can be found here.
