The General Medical Council (GMC) guidance
‘Gateways to the Profession’ is intended to be an advisory document to help medical schools consider how to best to encourage medical students. The statutory requirements of medical schools and other organisations involved in medical education are referred to in the guidance.
The guidance was written by a partnership led by the GMC and should be of interest to many organisations and individuals including disabled doctors, students and potential students.
If you are disabled and would like to have a career medicine it is recommended that you read this guidance fully to inform yourself of the policies, practices and procedures that could apply in medical education and training.
