Working in Industry

The UK boasts a powerful pharmaceutical industry and an impressive track record in life sciences research and pharmaceutical innovation.  Britain is responsible for 10% of the world’s health research output and for the discovery of nearly 20% of leading global medicines.

Working in industry, for example in research or as a medical adviser, offers an exciting career for those who wish to be directly involved in the development of new drugs or medical devices.  Furthermore, the trend towards collaborative research involving the NHS, universities and industry, is likely to lead to new opportunities in training (such as research fellowships and clinician scientist appointments) and substantive posts, with the potential to move between industry and clinical practice.
