The Medical Schools Council has responded to the GMC consultation of the reform of fitness to practise procedures
The Medical Schools Council has responded to the GMC's consultation on the reform of fitness to practise procedures.
The Medical Schools Council is, on the whole, very supportive of the proposed changes to the GMC’s fitness to practise procedures outlined in the consultation document. In particular we agree that, where there is no significant dispute about the facts, alternatives to a public hearing should be explored. This would of course require full cooperation from the doctor, and a contract clearly outlining sanctions, conditions, and undertakings.
