Cabinet Office Minister Liam Byrne has announced The Panel on Fair Access to Professions – its task is to ensure everyone has a chance of getting in to the main professions whatever their background.

Professor Sir John Tooke, Chair of the Medical Schools Council will sit on the panel as the medical representative.

The Panel will be examining what the professions and government can do to tackle the obstacles they identify and report on those findings in the summer.
