2010: Handling Procedural Challenges

Student Fitness to Practise Conference

The conference was held on 21 May 2010 at Woburn House, London and co-chaired by Dr Giles Davidson, Medical School Secretary for Hull York Medical School and Peter Pimblett-Denis, Medical School Secretary for Brighton and Sussex Medical School.

The agenda focused on handling procedural challenges in student fitness to practise and analysing student fitness to practise information from the first enhanced annual return.

Professor Tim David from The University of Manchester presented on the key considerations and features when constructing an outcome letter. Toni Smerdon from the GMC presented on getting fitness to practise procedures right. Ian Hicks, also from the GMC, presented on analysing student fitness to practise information from the first Enhanced Annual Return. It is hoped that this will become an annual meeting, with the next one scheduled for 20 May 2011.
